Join the Friends of Fort Hunter's "Hit the Road Educational Tour" on a bus trip to Hillwood Estate and Museum and the Washington National Cathedral featuring Dr. Donald Koones narration.
Departing the Fort Hunter Centennial Barn parking lot promptly at 7am,(arrive at 7:15 for loading) Dr. Koones will regale participants with juicy history and stories of Marjorie Merriweather Post during the trip.
Arriving at Hillwood, home of Marjorie Merriweather Post, guests participate in a guided tour of the pristine mansion nestled in the hills just minutes from Washington D.C., a guided tour of the formal garden and savor afternoon tea in the midst of this grand estate.
Back on the bus, get a head start on the behind the scenes fun facts of the National Cathedral prior to the guided tour highlighting the history, architecture and mission of this national treasure.
On the way home, a stop at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant, for dinner on your own, will complete the day. Plan to return to Fort Hunter around 8:30 p.m.
