Join the Friends of Fort Hunter for a trip to Philadelphia to tour the Eastern State Penitentiary and the home of Edgar Allen Poe. Dr. Donald Koones will provide an energetic historical review of the Penitentiary, one of the most haunted places in the world and Poe and his home where he wrote "Black Cat" in which describes the basement in the tour of the home.
Trip itinerary:
- Bus departs Fort Hunter Centennial Barn parking lot at 7:45 a.m. (please arrive for check-in by 7:30 a.m.) and returns by approximately 8:30p.m.
- Guided audio tour of Eastern State Peniteniary
- Bring your own bagged lunch, snacks and beverages (no cans, beverages must have lids) to eat between the Penitentiary and the Poe House
- Escorted tour at Edgar Allen Poe Historic Site
- All-inclusive buffet at Continental Tavern
